Ben Nevis

Ben Nevis via the pony track - Cost - £60 per person
Distance - 17KM
Ascent - 1345M
Time 7-10 hours

Britain’s highest mountain, In winter!
In the summer months this mountain never sleeps with most making their ascent throughout these month. However in winter you may just get lucky enough to enjoy a more quiet and at times eerie summit.
You must have previous winter hiking experience using crampons and ice axe or have been on a winter skills course with use of crampons and ice axe.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                What the day includes -
Following the footsteps of history hiking up the pony track ( mountain path ). We will start from Glen Nevis visitor centre meeting at 8am. Though many people take on the challenge of reaching Britain’s highest summit, it certainly takes effort to reach the top with very rough terrain underfoot for the majority of the way and the added extra of winter conditions.
An enjoyable pace will be set whilst we make our way up to the half way lochan where we will have a quick break and bite to eat, refuelling us for the journey to the top. Time for a final push to the summit and soon to be some of the highest people in the UK, with 360* views if we get lucky enough with the weather! Learn about some of the history of Ben Nevis and its summit features whilst enjoying a well deserved break.
After we have refuelled and had a break we will make our way back down the pony track back to Glen Nevis.
Meeting location and kit list will be received upon booking.

Geal Charn & A ' Mharconaich

Geal Charn & A’ Mharconaich, Drumochter £60 per person
Distance - 11.5km
Ascent - 731m
Time - 6/8 hours
The drumochter Munros in summer are fairly straight forward and don’t stand out much in comparison to others. However in winter they make for a great day out and give a little more excitement to these Munros. This day is ideal for those who have been on a winter skills course with use of crampons and ice axes and are looking to maintain their skills and enjoy a winters day taking in two Munros. You must have strong hill fitness to be able to attend this event.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                      What the day includes -
Meeting in the morning at Balsparron cottage with a high level starting point , the ascent for these two munros is minimal. Setting off with a good track underfoot, a short walk to warm up the legs before we start ascending. A gentle gradient continues as we make our way to the first summit , Geal Charn.
After a break and bite to eat we head on, dropping down to the bealach then a short pull up onto the vast plateau of our second Munro, A Mharconaich. To avoid the river crossing on descent we will descend back to the bealach and catch the landrover track joining the main path back out to the cars.
Meeting location and kit list will be received upon booking.

Beinn a’ Chlachair ( Ardverikie )

Beinn a Chlachair ( Ardverikie ) - Cost - £60 per person

Ascent - 903m
Time - 7/8 hours
Normally taken In with its two neighbouring Munros to make for a big day in summer months. However with shorter day light hours we will just be aiming for Beinn a Chlachair.
You must have previous winter hiking experience using crampons and ice axe or have been on a winter skills course with use of crampons and ice axe.
                                                                                                                                                                                                          What the day includes -
An early start as we have a good amount of distance to cover for this hike, for the first couple of hours we will be gradually taking in ascent as we pull upwards Bealach Leamhain, being on a landrover track for the majority of the distance.
From the bealach we will branch off and pull over the large broad ridge making our way to Beinn a’Chlachair summit. After a well deserved break we will retrace our steps over the broad ridge and depending on conditions either opt for a short cut off the shoulder or aim back to the Bealach to pick up the track back.

This event is suited to those with previous winter hiking experience using crampons and ice axe or have been on a winter skills course with use of crampons and ice axe and strong hill fitness.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                    What the day includes -
We will meet at 8am and from there start our hike , pulling up the shoulder of Am Bathach pretty much right from the roadside. A fine ridge takes us over to the Corbett summit, a more interesting approach to our munro.
From Am Bathach we will descend to Bealach a Choinich and continue towards Ciste Dubh, though one of the smaller Munros in the area it’s an impressive mountain! After a well deserved break and bite to eat we will retrace our steps back down to the bealach and pick up the path for a walk back out down the Glen and back to the cars.
Depending on conditions this route may get reversed or only aim for the Munro.

Fionn bheinn - Cost - £60per person

Often regarded as a boggy hike in summer but with an outstanding viewpoint over to the Torridon and far north west mountains. This single Munro makes for a great day on the hills in winter with a few short and steep sections throughout but lots of great gradient as you traverse over the moor.
You must have previous winter hiking experience with crampons and ice axe or have been on a winter skills course with use of crampons and ice axe.
                                                                                                                                                                                       What the day includes -
Meeting at Achnasheen in the morning we will start our hike from here, with our summit out of view just now we will pull up quite steeply to start as we make our way onto the vast moorland. From here we will cross over the moor and make our way towards our summit.
A gentle gradient pulls us up onto the ridge line where the views open out and the character of this mountain starts to show.
A short distance we will soon reach the summit of Fionn Bheinn and hopefully take in the spectacular summit views.
After a break and bite to eat we will retrace our steps the way we came.
Meeting location and kit list will be received upon booking.

We will meet in the morning and start our hike making our way up the Glen, a few KMs walk in to warm up the legs at the start of the day before we start ascending.
Before we approach Coire Fionnaraich we will head off the main path and start getting some ascent in, though this route makes for a really nice gradient for the full day.
Once we reach the Bealach you will be drawn in to the spectacular views of An Ruadh Stac , an impressive rocky Corbett whilst lays next to our Munro and will be in sight for the remainder of the day, giving you more reasons to head back to this breath taking area to explore deeper.
A short steep section for another gradual but rocky ascent for the final push up to the summit of Maol Chean Dearg. We will enjoy a well deserved break and bite to eat whilst taking soaking up the surrounding views.
Retracing our steps back out the same way we came in for a leisurely walk back to the cars.

Little protection on this broad ridge as we make our way towards the summit, a gentle gradient with a few KMS to reach the summit of Ben Wyvis. We will stop and have a well deserved break and bite to eat whilst taking in the views of the North Highlands.
Retracing our steps we will make our way back the way we came.

We will enjoy a well deserved break and bite to eat whilst taking soaking up the surrounding views.
Retracing our steps back out the same way we came in for a leisurely walk back to the cars.

                                                                                                                                                                                                           What the day includes -
We will meet in the morning and arrange our kit before starting the walk. With a gentle start warming up the legs as we join the forestry track before gaining ascent and pulling up the shoulder of Beinn a Chaorainn. The hard effort is worth the views upon reaching the summit with the impressive corries to the right and Creag Meagaidh behind.
Once we have reached the summit we will stop for a well deserved break and bite to eat before pushing onto the second Munro. Continuing along the ridge line as it curves above the corries before descending down to the Bealach.
Beinn Teallach our second Munro of the day is in short reach, ascending back upto 915M it’s one of the lower known Munros just making its status.
A gentle descent off hill to catch the forestry track out making an excellent circuit.
YOU MUST supply your own B2 WINTER BOOTS You can hire these from the likes of Tiso - please ask for further advice.
