Britain’s highest mountain, In winter!
In the summer months this mountain never sleeps with most making their ascent throughout these month. However in winter you may just get lucky enough to enjoy a more quiet and at times eerie summit.
You must have previous winter hiking experience using crampons and ice axe or have been on a winter skills course with use of crampons and ice axe.
What the day includes -
Following the footsteps of history hiking up the pony track ( mountain path ). We will start from Glen Nevis visitor centre meeting at 8am. Though many people take on the challenge of reaching Britain’s highest summit, it certainly takes effort to reach the top with very rough terrain underfoot for the majority of the way and the added extra of winter conditions.
An enjoyable pace will be set whilst we make our way up to the half way lochan where we will have a quick break and bite to eat, refuelling us for the journey to the top. Time for a final push to the summit and soon to be some of the highest people in the UK, with 360* views if we get lucky enough with the weather! Learn about some of the history of Ben Nevis and its summit features whilst enjoying a well deserved break.
After we have refuelled and had a break we will make our way back down the pony track back to Glen Nevis.
