Time - 8/9hours
Moderate - ⛰️⛰️ Situated to the west of Tyndrum and rising steeply from Loch Awe Ben Cruachan & Stob Daimh makes for a brilliant hill day with some fantastic ridge walking. Strong hill fitness and previous hiking experience is a must as we will be covering steep, rocky and rugged terrain throughout.
What the day includes -
Meeting in the morning with an early start will see us pull up steeply through a small woodland to reach the landrover track which takes us to Cruachan Reservoir. Once we have made our way over the dam wall continuing along a Land Rover track before branching off and working our way upto the bealach. The terrain starts to become rocky and eroded in places to the bealach with the final ascent to the summit covering a rocky boulder field.
After a well deserved break and bite to eat we will drop down heading over the rocky ridge line. Depending on conditions we will either cross the slabs or take the bypass which looses some height.
As we approach our second summit of the day, Stob Daimh the views back along the ridge to Cruachan are rather Impressive! Another quick refuel and we will start to descend taking in a minor top before dropping down the steep grassy hillside and meeting the landrover track at the top of the Dam.
Retracing our steps back down through the woodland and back to the cars.
